October Get Social: Coming Out Celebration with GLSEN & HRC
Wednesday, October 15, 2008
Members of the Human Rights Campaign’s Board of Governors have voted to designate steering committee status upon the greater Cincinnati community at its March 2008 board meeting. The new status means that representatives from greater Cincinnati will become members of HRC’s Board of Governors, a national body responsible for the bulk of HRC’s fundraising and local events. There are 150 members on the board from 32 communities around the country.
“We are delighted to recognize greater Cincinnati as one of HRC’s steering committees,” said Human Rights Campaign
President Joe Solmonese. “The greater Cincinnati community has played an active role in organizing events and raising awareness of the issues facing GLBT Americans. I look forward to working with the greater Cincinnati steering committee throughout the 2008 elections and beyond.”
To earn its new status, greater Cincinnati has grown its steering
committee to at least 20 committed and impassioned members, worked hard to meet or exceed membership and fundraising goals, and built up a respectable annual calendar of events designed to engage and educate local members and supporters. HRC will also work with our volunteer leaders and continue to invest resources with this steering committee over the long term to grow our base of support and influence in this significant metro area.
The Human Rights Campaign is America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender equality. By inspiring and engaging all Americans, HRC strives to end discrimination against GLBT citizens and realize a nation that achieves fundamental fairness and equality for all.
